Procore alternatives for contracts and compliance (2026)

Most builders searching for a Procore alternative don't want to leave Procore. They want the subcontracts and the vendor paperwork handled better. Here are the real options, side by side.

In one paragraph

For contracts and compliance, the usual alternative to doing it all in Procore is a tool that runs beside it: a COI tracker if insurance is the only gap, or a contract operations system like Contracts Connected if subcontracts, lien waivers and certified payroll are too.

TL;DR. If you’re replacing Procore for project management, this isn’t that list. Most teams who search “Procore alternatives” for contracts and compliance keep Procore for the job and add something beside it. Add a COI tracker if insurance is the only gap. Add a contract operations system like Contracts Connected if the subcontracts, lien waivers and certified payroll are the problem too.

Every fact about Procore and the other tools below comes from that company’s own website or help center, read on October 13, 2026. Contracts Connected is our product. We say where Procore alone is enough.

What Procore covers for contracts and compliance

Procore is project management software, and it covers more contract and compliance ground than people expect:

  • Subcontracts and purchase orders live in the Commitments tool. Procore’s product page names customizable contract templates.
  • E-signature runs through a DocuSign integration. The person sending needs an active DocuSign account; the vendor doesn’t.
  • Insurance status comes from insurance records kept in the Directory, which your team enters. Procore flags a policy as expiring 14 days out.
  • Lien waivers are exchanged through Procore Pay, a separate payments product for general contractors in the United States.
  • Prequalification is its own product, with questionnaires, review and a portal for vendors.

Procore prices each product as an annual fee based on your annual construction volume, with unlimited users and storage. Prices aren’t published.

When Procore alone is enough

  • You send a handful of subcontracts a month, and a DocuSign account for the sender is fine.
  • Someone on your team already keeps insurance records current in the Directory.
  • You’re on Procore Pay and your lien waivers move with the pay application.
  • Nobody is chasing vendors by email every week.

If that’s you, adding another tool may not pay for itself.

Option 1: add a COI tracker that integrates with Procore

If insurance is the gap, a certificate tracker reads each COI against your requirements and chases renewals, then writes status back to Procore. illumend (formerly myCOI), TrustLayer, Billy, Jones and bcs each name a Procore integration on their own sites. They stop at the certificate and, in most cases, a few other vendor documents. Our COI tracking software guide compares eight of them, and we’ve written head-to-heads against illumend, TrustLayer and Billy.

Option 2: add a contract operations system beside Procore

Project management runs the job. Accounting runs the money. Contract operations is the third system: the subcontracts, the compliance documents and the proof that a vendor can mobilize, is compliant on site and can be paid. That’s what Contracts Connected does.

  • Contracts on your templates. Project data is entered once and fills every contract and exhibit. Each package goes through your internal approvals, then out as one package with unlimited attachments. Redlines and e-signatures both happen inside. No separate signing app.
  • Every document a vendor owes. The COI, W-9, license, bonds, lien waivers, weekly certified payroll on prevailing wage jobs and closeout documents, collected on one link. The portal reminds vendors on Monday and Wednesday mornings until everything is in.
  • AI only if you want it. On Do it yourself, no AI model touches your documents. On Done with you, the AI reads each COI against the project’s requirements and recommends accept or reject. On Done for you, your AI agent chases vendors from its own email address and phone number.
  • Beside Procore, not instead of it. Contracts Connected works out each integration with the customer, case by case.

Option 3: add contract risk review

If the problem is what’s in the contract, not getting it signed and collected, a risk review tool fits. Document Crunch reads contracts and specs against your playbooks and has a Procore Marketplace app. It doesn’t send subcontracts or collect vendor documents; see Contracts Connected vs Document Crunch.

How we compared

We read Procore’s pricing page, contract management page, prequalification page and its help articles on commitments, DocuSign and insurance compliance on October 13, 2026, plus the integration pages of the other tools named. Where a site didn’t mention a feature, we wrote “not found” rather than claiming it doesn’t exist. Our co-founder ran a large federal general contracting firm for 15 years, about 100,000 documents a year.

Frequently asked questions

Can Procore send subcontracts for e-signature?

Yes, through its DocuSign integration. The sender needs an active DocuSign account. When everyone signs, the commitment is marked approved. Contracts Connected has e-signatures built in, with no separate signing app.

Does Procore track certificates of insurance?

Procore keeps insurance records in the Directory, entered by your team, and flags policies as they near expiry. It doesn’t describe reading the certificate itself. COI trackers and Contracts Connected’s AI read the certificate against your requirements.

Does Procore handle lien waivers?

Yes, through Procore Pay, a separate payments product for general contractors in the United States. Contracts Connected collects lien waivers per vendor with every pay application, alongside the rest of the vendor’s documents.

Do I have to leave Procore to use Contracts Connected?

No. Contracts Connected runs beside Procore. Procore runs the project; Contracts Connected runs the contracts and the documents vendors owe. Each integration is worked out with the customer, case by case.

What’s the best Procore alternative for subcontractor compliance?

If insurance is the only gap, a COI tracker that writes back to Procore. If you also send subcontracts and collect lien waivers and certified payroll, a contract operations system like Contracts Connected.

How is Procore priced compared with Contracts Connected?

Procore charges an annual fee per product based on annual construction volume, and doesn’t publish prices. Contracts Connected’s Foundation plan starts at $416 a month with unlimited users and vendors. See pricing.
